I once posted a question on my Facebook feed: Have you ever tasted food that makes you want to cry? Most of the answers were home-cooked family dishes and I understood immediately. But when one Los Angeles DJ friend named MonaLisa avidly answered "Shrimp Creole on cheese grits," I knew I had to try it.

My Two Cents is a little restaurant located in the PicFair area on Pico. On Sundays, the place gets crowded and you may have to get super cozy to the table next to you. They blast dancehall in the speakers and the walls are filled with pieces by local artists.

The shrimp cheese grits is everything people say it to be: homecooked (meaning made with love and care and yes you can taste it) made with quality ingredients. The shrimp was tender and the cheese grits accompanied it beautifully.

Next to the shrimp and cheese grits is this signature dish- a gluten-free fried chicken with baked eggs and cheese grits. Fried crisp but not greasy with  a drizzle of their signature BBQ Sauce.

What keeps me coming back to My Two Cents is not only is the food top notch in preparation as well comforting as a home cooked meal, the staff who works there are friendly, efficient and makes you feel like home. Whether it is your first time or your 10th time, there is something that makes you want to be part of their community. The beautiful thing I see? That when Chef Alisa, owner of My Two Cents, hears that it is your first time, she will come by your table to greet and welcome you.
